Technology Advances in Film and the Office
Being that we are a technology firm, it is perfectly acceptable to speculate on the nerdiness of our staff. I may or may not have multiple superhero action figures strewn across my office and there might possibly be a giant Boba Fett sticker staring into my office from out in the hallway. One of the cool things, though, about working in an office of nerds (and being one myself) is the fun we have enjoying technology advances. The Star Wars franchise has been a model of invention and ingenuity ever since its ground-breaking work on the original movie.
The Joy of Advancing Technology
“The original trilogy (Episodes IV, V and VI) produced between 1977 and 1983 set the gold standard for visual effects. John Dykstra, the special effects designer who worked on the original Star Wars and was chosen by Lucas to head up the director’s visual effects company, Industrial Light & Magic [ILM], has described sitting with a group of friends and building models and robots from scratch in order to achieve the realism Lucas was after” (The New Economy). The desire to create, to push the limits of what can be done is the heart of technology advancement. George Lucas embodied that in the development of these movies and that spirit has lived and continues to show itself today.
Seemingly defying even death itself, “they were able to recreate an interactive younger likeness of the late Peter Cushing to reprise the role of Grand Moff Tarkin in Rogue One” (Laughing Squid). The geniuses behind this technology at ILM were also able to rewind Carrie Fisher back to a teenager for her cameo as a young Princess Leia shortly before her death. Take a look at this video below and see how these incredible technology advances were made.
B2 Solutions’ Technology Advances
Why do we spend time on our blog talking about technology advances in the film industry? First off, it interests us and we want to share that with our readers. Second, because it impacts how we handle our business. It is important for us to work and find what ways we can advance what we do. Not just because we like cool new things, but because the less time we spend doing things long-hand, the more time we have to be face-to-face with our clients.
The experience that each client receives is our top priority. We know there are many information technology service providers that you can pick from, and we believe that you will ultimately choose to work with the company that treats you with respect, care, and integrity. We strive to give each client a great user experience and celebrate that our 3-year client retention rate is over 90%.
We embrace technology advances that help our ability to serve our clients. Whether it is an automated email system, new line of business software, or integrated devices; if it helps our ability to better do our job and increase the quality of your experience working with us, then we will be jumping headlong into that. If not, I can say that we, unlike George Lucas, do not want to commit ourselves to anything like Jar-Jar Binks.

What’s the deal with Slack? No, it’s not the beginning of a Jerry Seinfeld joke. But it is a question I was recently asked by a client. He had stumbled upon this new communication tool featured in Inc. magazine called Slack, and apparently it’s taking the business world by storm. In his research,
