Happy Holidays From Your Friends in IT

It’s that time of year, where the world falls in love a frenzy. Silver bells are ringing and the snow is falling. Wait a minute, we live in southwest Florida. Down here, the only bells we hear are those of the car horns of our love filled neighbors bearing down on us for the last parking spot. And snow? Of course not. We are still struggling to get under 80 degree highs. No matter where you live, however, it is still a special time of year. Time to reflect, celebrate, and refresh. The Christmas holiday allows us that time and opportunity to start the next year in a clear and focused state of mind.

Technology Doesn’t Take a Holiday Break

For many companies, that means slowing things down and coasting until the New Year. I have been in jobs like that and those are nice; but they are not the norm. For a lot of businesses, it is vital not only to have a successful end to the year, but a fast start into the next. In the IT business, it is our job to ensure that your business is prepared to make that strong finish and fast start. When your computer workstations freeze up or your wireless network goes down, you cannot afford the downtime, nor what that reflects in your bottom line.

That Elf on a Shelf may be watching your kids to make sure they stay good for Santa, but this is also a prime time of year for hackers and spammers to take advantage of lax security and higher email volume. It is human nature to be a little more lenient at this time of year (clicking on links you normally wouldn’t) when you are receiving more communication from people that you may not normally communicate with often. You are most protected with an IT firm that stays diligent through the holidays and is able to make themselves available to deal with any breaches in network security.

Technology That You Can Forget About

Simply put, throughout most of the year, we at B2 Technology Solutions want you to be able to let your technology do the work for you so that your focus can be on your bottom line success. That counts whether you are an accounting firm or construction company. This time of year, there are parties, families, friends, gatherings, figgy pudding, hall decking, mice stirring, and many other things that will demand your attention. One thing I have noticed this season is my 2 year old girl’s obsession with Christmas lights. Whatever street we drive down, she is on the lookout and screams at the top of her lungs (with pure joy) at each home with lighted decorations. Experiencing that joy through her has reminded me to allow myself to take a moment and make sure that I am allowing myself to stop long enough to let in the beauty of this season. You need to be able to do the same thing.
